On the National Day of Silence hundreds of thousands of students nationwide take a vow of silence to bring attention to anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment in their schools.
April 15, 2011 is the National Day of Silence, a student-led action sponsored by Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education
Network’s (GLSEN) in which thousands of students around the country will remain silent for all or part of the school day to call attention to the harassment and discrimination faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth.
And before anyone can say, “how does being silent do anything”, know that silence will make people stop and think, whereas yelling and screaming will make them simply walk by you.
Participating in this again.
Doing this.
There was a DOS at my school that I did. I may participate a little bit but, I have a cast party and pep-ralley thing.. It’s not gonna work so well.
I did this because a friend of mine organized it and it was great. Some people made fun of us, but I also feel like a lot of people who didnt plan on it joined through out the day. It felt good to help because nobody should be bullied for something like this
